Challenge 267 Theme

'Anything Goes with DIES'

For my DT creation this week and our theme of AG with DIES I used one of the images from Holiday Bundle Valentine 1 by BBKakes 'Heart'.  With this being a dies challenge I decided to break the heart image apart, I printed 3 copies of the heart and cut out the sections needed which were then stuck on white card, gold mirror card and silver mirror card. I did not want to use the text in the centre of the image but with breaking the image apart and using the sections as templates to cut around this was not an issue.  I embossed the white heart section and then used a Love sentiment die from the Sue Wilson - Shadow Box Collection - Stacked Love (CED9305) and the letter U from Diamond Press Whimsical Alphabet for my text and added some gold Stickles to the arrow shaft.  Next I gold stamped very roughly around the edges of my card base, die cut 2 squares and mounted these on Gold Mirror card and embossed with a heart folder.  Next I die cut 2 hearts from Cherry Lyn Heart to Heart Doily and finally six heart buttons from Trimcraft  Buttons.  I finished off the buttons with white raffia.

Saying as I had a spare heart from the two big heart die cuts (the bit left over in the centre) I decided to use it for the inside of the card along with the heart border die by Tattered Lace - Adoringly Ornate Edge.  To finish off I hand cut some Gold Mirror Carr and placed behind sections of the border die and used gold stamping in to roughly colour the heart left over piece, lastly I used a gold pen to colour the centre heart.

  • Image - Holiday Bundle Valentine 1 by BBKakes

A Little Bit Sketchy

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

Lots of fun with this card :) :) :) playing with my Gelli Plate.  Decided to try a gold yellow and ochre colour scheme with dark brown as a contrast.  I made two lots of papers with lots of layering of the colours, the first was on tissue paper which I used for all the front of the card and the other on regular copy paper which was not that cool so I used it to cover the back of the card. This card is pretty self explanatory on what I have done, embossing, distressing, use of gems, layering etc.  For the horse I printed on my card stock twice, the first layer used to make my mat and the second fussy cut and then sprayed with gold glitter varnish.  The base layer of printing was more to get the position right as I wanted the horse mainly on that layer but allowing the front leg to be over the sentiment.  The fussy cut horse was attached with silicone gel so I could bring it to the height of the sentiment which was attached with foam tape.

Using scraps of my Gelli printed paper that were left over to decorate the inside of the card.

Ingredients:-
  • image - Horse Running by IKEsART

Flower cats

Just a very quick blog post showing a card I made this morning.  I promised myself this year I was going to try and use my regular stamps far more, ones I have inherited over the years, collected as free gifts from magazines and the other I bought before I got into the craft making world and digital images.  So here goes, I think this is the first card I have ever made using just rubber/polymer stamps lol.

I started by making a mask using acetate of my cat layout and then used tiny flower stamps which I inherited years ago and have never had out the packet.  Tim Holtz Distress Inks were used for the stamping.  To finish off I added the three wee bows and an everyday handy sentiment.

Elements of Nature

Hello folks.  We have another challenge at One Stitch At A Time so how about popping over to see all the fabulous creations by the design team.  The prize this month is a $10 coupon to spend in the store :)

Challenge 266 Theme

'Anything Goes with ELEMENTS OF NATURE'

Such a lovely theme and just about anything you create will fit in some way :) :) so we do hope you come on over and join us in our challenge this fortnight.

I opted for a flower based card using a paper and image pack by Coosty Creations called Vintage Rose 2   and a sketch layout I found on the net somewhere.  Nothing to complicated but I was able to use each of the papers in the pack which was cool.  The image was printed 3 times and coloured with Polychromos.  To finish off I added the Love die in navy blue along with a bow, wee angel charm and some pearls.

I gave this card to my Mum along with a lovely blue snuggle blanket so there is a bit of sentiment going on here.  I often send folks a virtual blanket of love to wrap themselves up in when life is throwing challenges at them (OK Mum got a real blanket lol) and Mum also loves angels so I included the angel charm to watch over her.  Hopefully both will give her a sense of love and knowledge that she is a super special lady who I love dearly :)

A Christmas Wish

Christmas In July

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

Christmas in July, bad enough having it in December never mind twice a year hahahaha.  Oh boy, this card went wrong from step one right the way through - well apart from the printing and colouring of the image that is.  First issue, my beloved Spellbinder cutter died for the third and final time, it is now beyond repair and I have no access to buying a new cutter here in Saudi until I get to the UK (I could but shipment is a fortune and takes ages so is a no go).  That meant all my lovely dies are redundant and I love using my dies :).  Next, I thought I would have a go at this gelli printing as I rather like getting mucky but no gelli plate, again not available here.  I tried to make my own with my redundant Spellbinders embossing mat and a couple of pieces of funky foam - it half worked and I did have lots of fun making some papers but not ideal so that has to be added to the shopping list for the UK :)  This is one of the backgrounds I made using my make shift printing plate and acrylic paints.  Such yummy texture but that led to the next problem, my head did not compute that the texture would mean the rubber stamped tree would not work grrrrr.  Now fun paper and an odd black bitty outline of something that certainly did not resemble a tree.  What to do, Ah!!! fill in the tree with silver ink and a stipple brush - No - that left some sort of strange metal grey smudge, more grrrrrrrrrrrrrrsss.  Time for some major corrections :)  I re-stamped the tree (thankfully I had made two pieces of paper with the same colours but only one using the sequin cut out stuff I had for texture), so I used the un-textured sheet and stamped the tree again, cut this out and mounted on black paper.  I finished off the tree with gold pen over some of the black, gold Stickles and a silver brad for the star.  The sentiment got the same treatment.  Now I am going to say this card was deliberately organic lol, one with a really hand made fee hahahaha as cutting circles by hand with no outline was pretty hard hahaha.

To finish off the card I added some gold braid which I frayed at either end and glitter to the fur trim on Santa.  The tree and sentiment were attached with regular double sided tape and the coloured image with foam tape.  There we have it with admission of all the errors but I do have to say this turned out better than I thought it would and the texture when you touch it is awesome :) :)
