SPS - Summer Daisies Flower Pot Pretties

Here I am again with another creation, this time using Summer Dasies Flower Pot Pretties by Heather Valentin available from the Sweet Pea Stamps store.

To begin with I printed two copies of the digi, the second copy was used to mask the first while I airbrushed the background with my Promarker.  The wee daisies at the top were a problem, I had cut them out but really they were to small so I tried using masking fluid instead, a fluid used in watercolour painting to stop the spread of the paint.  I worked a treat thankfully.  To apply it I used a toothpick :)
Onto the colouring with my Promarkers and once completed Spellbinders Grand Scallop Ovals was used to create the mount.
Promarkers used.
Lots of layering for the background picking up the colours I used in the digi.
Now for the decision, make my own flowers or use shop bought ones lol.  I opted to make my own, for the daisies I used the die Sizzix Mini Daisies and for the wee yellow ones I used Impression Obsession Layered Floral Set.  After colouring and assembling I set to with the flower centres where I used pearls airbrushed with the same Promarker colours I used in the image.  To hold the pearls in place while airbrushing I find a bit of blue-tack works a treat.
The sentiment was printed digitally and then airbrushed.  To cut it out I used Nellie's Multi Frame Round Doily
The image looked like it needed just something else added to it so I printed another copy, coloured two of the large flowers, the tiny daises and the snail again. These were then cut out and added as a second layer to the digi.  Alas it does not really show in the photo but in real life you can see the 3D effect.  Each of the flowers were shaped with a ball tool to dimension to the flowers and the underneath petals were trimmed away. The snail was finished off with Glossy Accents.
One more thing to get ready, a wee butterfly so I can carry the purple colour to the upper left of the card, for this I used Cherry Lyn Designs Mimi Butterflies.  Oooops - sorry about the blurry pic <g>.  I find it easier to grab pics as I am going along as I hate writing and know some of you who read are interested in the process but sometimes I am just a little to quick to capture the moment and I guess this is one of those times :)
To finish off the card I added a doily, string of pearl beads and some skeleton leaves.

SPS - Artist Week - Fire Dragon by Lisa Victoria

Sweet Pea Stamps

Hello folks, here I am again with another creation for  Sweet Pea Stamps.  Today I am sharing with you my DT creation for Artist Week where the whole team use an image by the artist Lisa Victoria.  I have chosen the image Fire Dragon to work with :)

This is a rather simple card and an even more simple blog post as I am still without an Internet connection in my house and am also in the process of packing for my return trip to Saudi on Wednesday morning.

Here is a close-up of the coloured digi.  For the colouring I used the new Spectrum Noir blend able pencils.  The first time I used the pencils I also used the blending solution which removes the wax and only leaves the coloured pigment behind leaving an effect very similar to that of our beloved Promarkers and Copics.  This time I have not used the blending solution but instead built up the image with several layers of the crayons so I can see what the different effect is.

For the corners of the card and the flames from the dragon I have used fire coloured gold leaf which I have just bough but it is in my house and I am writing this at my daughter house (saying as she has an Internet connection :) :) :) ) and I can't remember the name of it.  I do love the outcome though and an rather glad I bought it the other day.  Now I wish I had bought more but that will have to be next year now.

Thank you for stopping by :)

SPS - Variation Week, Molly-What A Catch

Sweet Pea Stamps

Today is my day to showcase an image from Sweet Pea Stamps for our Variation Week.  This week all the DT are creating an item using the cute image 'Molly- What A Catch' by Heather Valentin. This image is only available in rubber.

To begin with I coloured the background of the image wit blendable pencils.  Not sure why the are called blendable as I can't get a nice smooth finish with these but never mind, they serve the purpose for now.
Once that was done I coloured the image with Promarkers.
Promarkers used.
For this project I am altering a note book so to start off I removed the spiral hold.

Next, and I have forgotten to take picture lol, I covered the front cover with navy hand made paper then added some blue mesh.  The digi was cut with X-Cut Scalloped Circles. Using another paper I have which has a snake skin texture I then embossed it with an embossing folder that looks a bit like fish scales.  This too was cut with the same die as the digi.  To finish off the edges I used pearls and Ice Stickles.
The fish were cut using Joy Craft fish die.
Now I don't have any Frantage but I am playing at making something similar.  Here I have some Mica which I picked up from and onld (1940's) disused mine hubby and I found when on holiday down under.  It is such fun stuff lol.  I have flaked off a few pieces and chopped them up with scissors.
Using thick embossing powder which I applied to the cover I then sprinkled my mica fragments on top and heated from underneath to melt.
Onto making a charm for the pencil using fishing line, pearl beads and a shell charm.
I coloured a small pencil with Rock Pool Promarker and then finished off with some Extreme Glitter paint.
And here we have the finished wee pencil
I love the way these pencils fit perfectly into the spring coil <g>
And here is the finished creation.

SPS - Holly Bow

Sweet Pea Stamps

Hello folks, here I am again with another creation for  Sweet Pea Stamps.  Today I am sharing with you my DT creation using the digi Holly Bow by Karen Middleton.

To begin with I cut two holly leaves with my Merry Christmas sentiment and daughter/SIL names.
Next I fancied something plush so used some sticky back red velvet I bought from some strange back street <g>.
After printing the digi I coloured with Promarkers.
Promarkers used
I used Spellbinders Adorning Squares as my die and then airbrushed the background with Forest Green Promarker
Now to emboss a mount and then cut with Spellbinders Grand Squares
Time to make the bow to attach the tag sentiments to.
And here we have the finished creation.  You can see I also added some red lace, pearls and a couple of wee holly leaves with berries as well.

WTF

Time for another challenge over at

Christmas In June

Morning folks, hope you are having a good day today :)   It is week two of the IKEsWORLD challenge, Monochromatic, and still plenty of time for you to enter.  Just remember, you must use and IKEsART image to be eligible for the prize.  Why not pop on over to the store, Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

Christmas!!!!! I feel like I have been over run by Christmas recently having made all of the family Christmas cards for this year and three challenges with a Christmas theme.  I don't even like Christmas, well I love the meaning but that is so washed out these days and what is left gets my back up lol.  When I saw Ike's challenge my heart fell but then the biggest smile appeared on my face hahahaha  Ike has a fairly new digi called WTF which could not be more perfect for how I feel at the moment and sums up my thoughts perfectly - so IKE, I forgive you for this challenge them and in the end had a lot of fun with it lol.

I am being very sarcastic with this background but it fits my mood - lots of love, joy and peace along with crowded shops, noise, cold, no parking, empty wallet hahahaha
Next I printed the elements and digi I need for this card.
 Digi coloured with Promarkers.
 Promarkers used
I fussy cut the pressies, coloured the tops of them and added glitter to the bows.  The digi was then fussy cut and placed on the card.  Next was the text - nice and simple and to the point!!!!!!  I hope nobody is offended, this is just my warped humour at work :) :) :)

Ingredients:-
  • Digi -  WTF  by IKEsART
  • Promarkers
  • Papermania DP
  • Gifts clipart for IClipart.com
  • Glitter

SPS - Emotive

Sweet Pea Stamps

Hello folks, here I am again with another creation for  Sweet Pea Stamps.  Today I am sharing with you my DT challenge creation 'Red, White and Blue', yep this was a challenge just to make it - red, white and blue are not a favourite colour combination and I am not hot on patriotic themes either.  What to do, ummmm, ahhhhh, more ummmmmmms.  OK, in for a penny in for a pound so to speak - time to go right out of my comfort zone and not even plan the end creation, just colour the digi and see from there lol . I have used the digi 'Emotive' by Marlon Teunissen

As I mentioned, I first coloured the digi.
 Promarkers used.
Now onto make this up as I go along lol.  I have decided to alter a spiral bound book I have and think this one I will keep for myself on my craft desk so I can jot down techniques, colour themes etc that seem to work.  Wonder if I will manage that or will the book remain unused and just be an ornament lol.

I thought I would do a bit of paper tearing using some red hand made paper with lots of fiber bits in it which a friend brought me back from Thailand and some white copy paper.  These sections were then embossed with a Spellbinders embossing folder.  I did decide not to use the white bit in the end.
Next using an embossing pen and clear embossing powder I wrote the words 'Shake your booty', that seemed to go well with this lovely sassy image.  Alas the turquoise still looked black, I was hoping it was strong enough to not absorb the red colour of the paper but no joy.
OOOOOoooooo some blink on the knickers - yep a must lol.  I used Stickles here.
Now at the beginning I mentioned I was making this up as I went along so taking pics was not at the forefront of my thoughts.  Anyway, here is what I did where no photos were taken.  I coved the book with the most beautiful paper I have had for a few years and don't often use, again from Thailand this hand made paper is so soft and has been finished by dipping in gold oil paint - it screams beauty in real life <g>.  OK - you see I love this paper lol.  Next I added the torn red embossed sections.  The digi was fussy cut and attached as the next layer.  To finish off I added lace with blue gems, some red gems and white pearls and then, again following the colour scheme I used red, white and blue organza ribbon for wee bows attached to each spiral of the binding section.  And, there we have it, an altered note book.

Thank you for stopping by :)
