Autumn Bride

Hello folks.  We have another challenge at One Stitch At A Time so how about popping over to see all the fabulous creations by the design team.

Challenge #183

Theme 'Autumn'

Our sponsor is Creative Craft World with a prize of 3 Promarkers. Please remember to win this prize you MUST use a digi from our store and also put a # after your name so we can find you easily. You can still enter with a none StitchyBear Digi Outlet image but will be entered into a separate draw to win $3 to spend in our store..

How fast is this year passing, it seems to be in the blink of an eye, and now Summer is over and Autumn has arrived.

For my DT card this week I used the digi 'Bride' by Priyanka of My Heart Pieces thinking it would be fun to make a less traditional wedding card:).  For this card I used one of the digi papers from Panda Bear Designs pack 'I am Blessed'

I mounted the card with the DP first and added some beautiful cream lace. The area with the digi on is a second layer mounted with foam tape.  For the digi, I printed twice, first time on the backing paper and the second on its own, this second layer was used so I could cut the arm, flowers and dress skirt out and again mount with foam tape.  The butterlies are two layers, the bottom layer cut from the same paper as the background and the top layer was cut from cream vellum.   Once the butterflies were assembled I added Bisque Liquid Pearls down the centre.

Ingredients:-
  • White Linen card from Craft Creations
  • Digi - 'Bride' by Priyanka of My Heart Pieces
  • Digi Paper - Panda Bear Designs pack 'I am Blessed'
  • Dies - Cherry Lyn b127-tropical-flourish and Mimi Butterflies
  • ProMarkers - Ivory and Satin
  • Lace, Liquid Pearls, vellum etc from my stash

Vintage Norton

Another quick post with is blokes Birthday card - today's creation <g>

For this card I used Pineapple paper for the backing paper which I got on my travels somewhere, green paper with gold embossed dots and gold paper with some netted bobbly material which I overlaid it with.  These items all formed the background for the card.  The digi is Vintage Norton by Delicious Doodles which I used three time, the bottom layer faded right down, the middle layer with less fading and the top layer is normal.  I didn't colour the digi this time, it is so well drawn it really didn't need much doing to it.  I was trying to creating a ghosting effect with the motorbike so hope you think I succeed :).  Birthday and biking sentiments were added before printing.   I wanted to add some wheel dies but don't have any so cogs are the next big thing.  As I have done before, I kept the wax paper I used to help with the cutting and incorporated these into the design (I am not very good at throwing things away!!!).  I coloured these wax dies cuts with Gold Promarker to tone in with the card.  The Delicious Doodles challenge requires the used of brads and eyelets so I added olive green striped brads to the centres of the black cogs. Instead of using eyelets around the digi or on a tag I decided to put them directly into the card as part of the design.  I then cut a thin strip of brown leather I have and coloured it with my black Promarker then threaded it through the eyelets to represent the leathers worn by bikers - maybe to fasten up their boots or some other opening which needs to be held together lol.

Ingredients:-
  • White Linen card, gold peel off straight line stickers and green gold embossed paper from Craft Creations
  • Digi - Vintage Norton by Delicious Doodles
  • Dies - Xcut Chronology Cogs
  • Pineapple paper,  gold paper, nobbly netting, brads, eyelets, leather from my stash.

Stylized Flower

Cherry Lyn have a challenge on the go, 'Die Cut Flowers' using their dies.  Now I have a few Cherry Lyn dies but no flowers so really had to think outside the box to join in lol.  For this card I used the Cherry Lyn Dream Catcher die which I cut 6 times using off white pearl finished paper, it is not showing to well in the photo but does have a lovely sheen in real life.  I cut off the bits I didn't need for the die leaving only the circle shape.  Each circle was folded to form the petals of my flower which I then attached to a small holding square.  To finish it off I added turquoise and silver Stickles and a gem in the centre which alas was green so got the Promarker attack, using Turquoise Promarker to colour it so it toned in correctly.  The flourish is another Cherry Lyn die which I cut using 8 layers of heavy duty tin foil (aluminum foil), I love this idea of using the metal foil for dies.  I created the sentiment which I printed on grey pearl paper and cut out using Spellbinder Scalloped Circles.  To finish the card off I added three turquoise buttons which I touched up with wee dots of sliver Stickles.  I should mention that I used black matting paper which I embossed with an Embossilicious 6x6 folder.  I am just looking a the photo and that is not showing up too wee either - obviously my camera and I are having a bad day lol.

Ingredients:-
  • White Linen card from Craft Creations
  • Dies - Cherry Lyn Dream Catcher and Tropical Flourish and Spellbinders Grand Scallop Circles
  • Embossilicious Embossing Folder
  • White and Grey pearl paper from my stash, along with the buttons, stickles etc.
  • Stickles, buttons etc. from my stash

Gems and Bling!!!

How can anybody resist and Gems and Bling challenge :)

The other day I was thinking of ways of using metal with my die cutter, I know some people split open fizzy drinks cans and use that and another alternative is to use roof flashing.  I really don't fancy attacking a fizzy drinks can - knowing me it would end up with a trip to hospital and I have not been able to find any roof flashing where I am so that is out too.  After a bit of thought I got out the heavy duty tinfoil and folded a piece three times to make eight layers, put a die on top and ran it through the die cutter - worked a treat.  So today, I have had the chance to make a metal border using the same method, must say, I am really pleased with the outcome.  For this card I used black pearlized card as my base and the digi ' Pegasus' by Delicious Doodles.  I printed the digi three times and had planned to colour it in shades of grey but changed my mind at the last minute.  Instead I covered each copy with Silver Ice Stickles and left to dry.  Next I decoupaged the image, base layer, middle layer of horse body, legs and mane then the top layer of just the head. The two top layers were attached with foam tape. The die used for the border is Memory Box Big Splash which I cut four times. I added purple heart gems and clear gems intertwined in the border.  To finish off I cut another piece of black card with Spellbinder Nestabilities Labels 20 and added a silver peel-off sentiment.

Ingredients:-
  • Black Pearl card from Craft Creations
  • Digi - ' Pegasus' by Delicious Doodles
  • Dies - Memory Box Big Splash and Spellbinder Nestabilities Labels 20
  • Peel-off sentiment, gems and Stickles from my stash

Fashionista

Yesterday while pottering around on the net I found Ike's Challenge - a new challenge and fab for me as had my favourite theme BINGO lol.  Ike is giving away a free digi for this challenge so why not pop on over and give it a go.

For this card I printed a denim background and used organza ribbon which I wove.  The didi was printed and coloured with Promarkers, I thought the digi needed to be leaning against something so added a bit of clipart from IClipart.com.  After cutting out the stool I used clear embossing powder for the seat to give a plastic look.  To finish off I used the same denim background to make a pocket and added the button to the top and turquoise gems around the edges, this was to hold a Happy Birthday tag.

Rock On

Hello folks.  We have another challenge at One Stitch At A Time so how about popping over to see all the fabulous creations by the design team.

Challenge #182

Theme ' Anything Goes'

Our sponsor this week is the StitchyBear Digi Outlet with a prize of the  full set of digi images used by the DT in challenge #180.. So around $20 worth. To win this you MUST use a StitchyBear digi outlet image. Runner up prize of $3 to spend at our store for 1 winner that doesn't use a StitchyBear digi outlet image.

This week I had to choose a digi from the designer Pookie for this Anything Goes Challenge.  Don't you find we never have enough cards suitable for men, or even a variety of suitable digis.  When I saw this one called Rock On it immediately jumped out and called to me (or maybe shouted lol).

I created the background in a well known art program, I then coloured the digi and superimposed this on the background.  I feel there is enough going on with the digi that little else was needed but a sentiment and a few musical notes for a bit of texture.  The sentiment text was printed and then cut using dies from Scallop X-Cut and Nellie's Multi Frame Round Doily.  Out with the trusty gold paint pen to go round the edge of the scallop section of the sentiment then assemble.  Gold bead chain and a metal musical note were added last.  The completed section was then attached to the card with foam tape.  Just of finish off I added some musical notes using a die by Die-Namics and gold mirror card.  An insert was created to match the front of the card and a single clef again in mirror card.

Ingredients:-
  • White Linen card from Craft Creations
  • Digi - Rock On by Pookie
  • Dies - Scallop X-Cut, Nellie's Multi Frame Round Doily and Die-Namics Musical Notes
  • Chain, metal embellishment and gold mirror card from my stash

Let Me Tell You Bout The...

I have enjoyed the challenge from Get Inky so much I decided to make a second card following their theme of 'Let Me Tell You Bout The...' :)

For this card I created the background in Photoshop and added the tree and birds with brushes created by Obsidian Dawn then added the uncloured digi (png).  Once printed I then used Black Sparkle and clear embossing powders mixed together and embossed areas of the tree, this gave such a lovely texture to the card, think I will have to do it again <g>.  Next I printed another two copies of the digi, one for decoupaging the boy and girl sections the other for the moon.  The three images, one on the card and two others were coloured in individually and then assembled.  I added flowers and a die cut bee and finished off with a sentiment topper.

 Ingredients:-
  • White Linen card from Craft Creations
  • Digi -  Young Love by Kaz Krafts
  • Dies - Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels 20 and Elizabeth Craft Bees
  • Promarkers - Ice Grey 1-5, Cocoa, Terracotta, Cinnamon, Caramel, Spice, Amber, Maroon, Rose Pink, Blossom, Olive Green, Marsh Green, Meadow Green, Khaki, Pastel Beige, Dusky Pink, Blush, Almond, Primrose and Blender and Flexi Marker Champagne
  • Personal Impressions Black Sparkle embossing power and clear embossing powder

Birds Do It ......

Get Inky have a fun challenge on at the moment - one that requires a bit of thought -  it's all about that song by Jewel Akens where he sings about the birds and the bees and the flowers and the trees and the moon up above...and a thing called love.

Ingredients:-
  • Backing paper from an old craft magazine which I printed the text on
  • Dies - IO Birds, Cherry Lyn Heart to Heart Doily and Elizabeth Craft Bees
  • Cuttlebug heart embossing folder
  • Plant life from my garden which I dipped in Mod Podge to seal it then used the heart cut outs from the die for the flowers which were then embellished with dots of Black Stickles

Daydream

Hello all, hope you are having a good day.  I am, so excited as my Spring collection Promarkers and a couple of blender pens along with some fine nibs have just arrived after a very long journey from the UK to Saudi - hurray.  Can't wait to play with them - thank you big sister for sorting the order and posting them to me - you are a STAR xx

OK, onto today's post.  I have not coloured a non caucasian digi before so this is a first for me.  Have you noticed how most of us colour in caucasian colours?  I must say I had a lot of fun with this personal challenge of mine and it is certainly something I will be doing again :).  To make the card I also tried something new for me, to use a die to make a cut-out design.  I would normally do this with my electronic cutter but today it was time for the Cherry Lynn flourish die to be used.  I kept the cut out sections and used them along with a couple more I made in a darker pink to embellish the card.  Instead of having just the cutout design showing I lined the inside of the the front of the card with brown mulberry paper, it looks so delicate in real life with the light shining through so you can see the heavier fibers in the paper but alas I didn't capture the effect with the camera.  I printed the digi and cut it out using X-Cut scallop circles and used the same die to cut the brown mount underneath.  Next I used Cherry Lynn Mini butterflies and cut them out in the two shades of pink for the tops and brown for the shadow layer.  To finish the card off I added a large pink organza bow, a spray of flowers and Liquid Pearls plus another smaller pink organza bow.

Ingredients:-
  • Pink Hammer Card from Craft Creations
  • Digi - Daydream with Sentiment by Digi Blessing
  • Dies - Cherry Lynn Tropical Flourish and Mini Butterflies, X-Cut Scalloped Circles and Elizabeth Craft Designs Bees
  • Flowers, organza ribbon and Liquid Pearls from my stash

Is a Birthday an Unlucky Day!!

Most of the time, certainly in our earlier years birthdays were always lovely, lucky days, full of fun, cake, pressies and feeling super special.  From what I see, as one gets older, birthdays are liked less and less, they remind us how fast time is passing us by, of things we still want to do but find it hard to fit into our busy lives and the worst part is when you find yourself in another age group bracket when filling in questionnaires etc where you jump a decade instead of a year <g> lol

This is the second card I have entered in the Delisious Doodles Friday 13th challenge (well birthdays can be on Fridays!!! :) )  The first was for a 13th birthday and as you can see, this one is for somebody older maybe even much older lol

I coloured the digi three times so I could decoupage it - oh how well this digi lends itself to fussy cutting.  I then printed the sentiment on gold backing paper and attached to the card.  Cherry Lynn Tropical Leaves dies were used (I only used one out the pack of five) and cut in brown, copper and gold, these were then placed behind the digi.

13th

For this card Teri very kindly gave me permission to use her digi's to create a backing paper - thank you Teri <g>.  I am in a bit of a dilema - sore hands but the head needs 'me time' lol so a bit of a trade off at the moment with cards lol

For this card I used Butterflies by Delicious Doodles, there are three butterflies in the set and I used them all.  Thought I would try to make a retro card so chose to use only four colours plus black.  I did have some butterflies on the 13 which were cut with Cherry Lyns Mimi butterflies using Funky Foam, worked a treat but too much going on with the card and they distracted from the background so I decided to tuck them away for another day. I cut the 13 with my die cutter and embossed it with an Embossalicious Folder then edged with Metallic Pink Promarker.  The 13 was then attached with foam tape.  Not a complicated card but rather appealing for a 13 year old I think.  So how to link this to lucky/unlucky 13th, well I guess you feel rather lucky when you become a teenager, all grown up etc. but alas in reality still a kid and treated like a kid so maybe not so lucky lol.

Oriental Corner in Fall

Hello folks. We have another challenge at One Stitch At A Time so how about popping over to see all the fabulous creations by the design team.

Challenge #181

Theme ' Autumn/Fall'

The sponsor for this fantastic challenge will be StitchyBear Digi Outlet with $9 to spend in our store. You can still enter with a none StitchyBear Digi Outlet image but will be entered into a separate draw to win $3 to spend in our store.

For this project I used the digi Oriental Flower Corner Set by Teri of Delicious Doodles which is available from the the StitchyBear Digital Outlet. I only used one corner on the card but to make up for that <g> I made a wee box to hold the cold enameled pendant which I had made to go with the card.

First I cut a card blank for the front of the card and then cut the diagonal window out of it.  Next I used gold net material and using spray adhesive attached that to the front base of the card. Next I printed the digi and coloured with ProMarkers.  After fussy cutting and laying on the card I felt it was a bit flat so I used Glossy Mod Podge to add a shiny layer. For the leaves which I layered over the window I used one of the leaves from the die set 'Tropical Leaves' form Cherry Lyn.  Initially I had intended to use embossing powders on each of the leaves in gold, copper and a mixture of the two but I was so impressed with the die and the embossing that I decided it would be a shame to cover the veins up with the embossing powders.  The leaves were attached with glue dots to the sides of the window and in the places they overlapped.  A simple peel off sticker sentiment was added to the bottom right corner.  To assemble the card I used foam tape around the edges and place the front decorated mount on top to give a lovely 3D effect.  The last bit to be done was to create an insert (and I have forgotten to take a pic of that - silly me), which carried the colours from the front decorated areas of the card in a simple graduated and bordered square and attached another of the die cut leaves in chocolate brown to the bottom corner.

I got some enameling powders a wee while ago and have been itching to use them but had no time so I thought I would give it a go and make a pendant to go with the card.  I used a domed copper blank and applied the first layer of enamelling powder and placed in the mini kiln to set.  When the enamel had melted I removed it, let it cool, then added a decorative layer and some Millefiori Glass Flower  Beads and a couple of gold coloured crystal gems.  A final sprinkling of gold and copper enameling powder and back in the kiln for it all to set.  I made a copper split ring and then added a leather thong instead of a silver chain - more in keeping with the rustic look.

Now you can't have a card and pendant to go with it without a box :)  For the box I used my Walnut ProMarkers to colour the inside and outside.  Next I created a mini wrapper using the Delicious Doodles digi which I coloured in the same colours as I used for the card.  There was a spare leaf left from when I prepared the ones for the card so I attached this to the top of the box with a blob of silicone glue so I could angle it.  Three heart gems were added to the front of the box and some braid in brown  and orange was attached to the rim of the lid.  The box was finished off with a couple of coats of Glossy Mod Podge for added strength.

Think that just about sums up what I did <g>

Kizzy

I thought I would make an animal card today, a bit challenging as I don't think real animals are easy to colour in the least :)

For this card I used the 'Yorkshire Terrier' Digital Stamp and Paper Pack' available through the StitchyBear Digital Outlet.  I used the two fur digital papers from the pack for my double layer background and also for the card insert.  The digital stamp was coloured with ProMarkers and some new Flex Markers which hubby bought for me yesterday and I had to try :).  Several dies were used, for the second layer background I used Spellbinders Grand-Nestabilities Grand Labels 1, the copper floral die is CArt Decorative Oval Frames, the border is Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 4pk - Borders by Rachael Bright and for the digi centre oval and border I used Marianne Design Flower Border Oval.  I made the bone topper by printing on card and fussy cutting then colouring with Promarker.  After colouring and cutting the digi section I printed a second image of the dog and cut this out to protect the image by masking while I used my Promarker again with the spray gun attachment.  Gold lace and pearls were added (just for a touch of class <g>).  Stickles were then used just to carry a dark colour between the dark of the background paper and the dark of the Yorkshire Terrier.  The bone and the digi with frame were attached with foam tape for added dimension.

Tandem Valentine

What a absolutely fun morning, lots of experimenting and feeling like a kid in a candy store :).  There are a couple of challenges on the go at the moment which I have toyed with the idea of making a card for.  The first is City Crafter who have a challenge which requires a bike on it and of course a digi and the other is Paper Makeup Stamps which wants you to make your own background paper.  I couldn't resist - I often make my own backgrounds for my cards but I recently saw a tutorial using shaving foam - sounds so off the planet and right up my street lol.  So, today was my day to play.  I have put together a sort of tutorial showing how I made each of my papers for this project - hope you enjoy :)

Paper 1 - Shaving Foam Background Paper
First I had to hunt out some saving foam, alas hubby using shaving gel (maybe I will try that next time :) but I remembered on of the airlines gave us wash bags during a long flight and hubby's had shaving foam in it - now just to remember where it ended up.  As you can see I found it.  To make the background paper, squirt shaving foam onto a plate and add drops of food colouring.  I opted to make a really strong instant coffee concoction instead as I didn't have any suitable food colours which would match my card.

Next, use cocktail sticks or skewer to mix the shaving foam and dye together in swirly patterns.

Step 3 is to place you paper on top of the mixture, I did mine a few times and squiggled it here and there too - now that was fun lol

Remove the paper carefully, try to lift it up rather than drag it to much.  It looks like I have two meringues ready to cook but somehow I don't think they would taste very nice (mind you, my cooking abilities are rubbish so even the real thing probably couldn't be eaten either)

Use a scraper or something similar and scrape the shaving foam off the paper, what you are left with is the dye on the paper giving a lovely marbled effect.  You can see the finish paper in the last photo of this tutorial. Sorry I kept forgetting to take all the pics as I was going along :(

Paper 2 - Material and Embossing Powders
I used double sided adhesive spray on some gold coloured net material I had and applied this to the material creating folds of different sizes.

It looked a bit bland and was obviously sticky so I sprinkled clear embossing powder all over and added a bit of copper too.

Next step was to use the heat gun to make it all set.  Now the fun started here - I had a though, saying as the material was nylon, if I moved the heat gun closer would it melt - just had to try and yes it did.  I was delighted with the outcome of this paper, so tactile but also strong and very different.

Paper 3 - Embossing, distress ink and a bit extra
The paper was embossed using a Spellbinders embossing folder then I distressed it.  Not sure why, it didn't seem to make much difference for what I was doing lol.

Next I dabbed Tim Holtz Distress Ink over the raised dots.

Something not right, this is not the colour I wanted, so now for the bit extra.  Out with my trusty Promarkers and the spray gun attachment - thats better :)

Paper 4 - Toilet Paper
For this paper I used a couple of sheets of toilet paper and dabbed with the distress ink and then sprayed with the same Promarker colours as I used in Paper 3.  Once again I forgot to take a pic but you can see the outome in the last photo.

With all the papers made, it was onto the topper.  I created the sentiment ad printed with the digi 'Heart Charm' by Digi Darla Digital Stamps.  Using the same Promarker Colours I coloured the digi and then added embossing powder to give that lovely dimensional glossy finish.

Now for the die cut.  I used a die cut from Scrapbooking Table of a single bike and modified it to create the tandem.  This was then cut out of white card using SCAL and my Black Cat.  Next I colour it in with Umber Promarker and again embossed with clear embossing powder. I just love how this turned out, a sort of vintage bike look.

With all the basic elements for the card created it next time to finish bits of and mini assemble.  The background papers were cut using Sizzix - squares along with the brown backing paper for the sentiment/digi topper. I added gold peel off line stickers to the sentiment/digi topper too.

Finally time to make the card.  It is so much fun making the different elements for cards and then the magic of putting everything together and seeing what the imagination envisioned come to reality.  The only paper that caused me grief was the toilet paper, the glue I used does go transparent as they advertise but I guess the toilet paper is a little to absorbent and thin so it did not really work.  However, not to be disheartened I turned a boo boo into a hurray :)  I dotted more glue in random dabs to create another dotty pattern.  Sometimes things are just meant to happen and now I have two dotty papers and two line fold looking papers - yep works just fine :)

And now for the finished card . . . . .

Ingredients:-
  • Cream card from Craft Creations
  • Brown backing paper from Paper Box
  • 4 home made background papers using shaving foam, coffee, material, embossing folder, toilet paper, Promarkers with spray gun and Zig Zag glue
  • Sentiment by me

Dreams

Another day and time for another card :)

For this card I used a photo I took out of the airplane window on my last trip back to the UK for the DP paper which I then embossed with and Embossilicious Embossing Folder.  The text on the front of the card was added to the DP paper before printing.  I used the same image and embossing folder for the inside of the card too.

I went to town with my Cherry Lynn Designs dies using three different ones.  I just love the dream-catcher and this is the first time I have used it.  I decided to use silver glitter paper for the dream-catcher and other silver items on the card to represent the fact that every cloud has a silver lining (so if you have rotten dreams just remember they can only get better <g>)

Other dies I used were Cherry Lynn Tropical Flourish and Mimi Butterflies - oh and how I love my mini butterflies, one of the best dies I have, just so versatile. When cutting all the dies I used waxed paper to help release them and have kept these wax bits to add to the card. I was trying to create a delicate floaty effect lol.

Feathers were added to the feather areas on the dream-catcher and pearls too.  Liquid Pearls were used in other areas.

Ingredients:
  • White Linen and Blue Pearl card from Craft Creations
  • Dies - Cheery Lynn Designs:- Dream-catcher, Tropical Flourish and Mimi Butterflies. For the sentiment I used X-Cut Large Tags
  • Background paper by me from a photo I took
  • Embossilicious Embossing Folder
  • Pearls, Liquid Pearls, gems ribbon and lace ribbon from my stash

Purple Infusion

Hello folks. We have another challenge at One Stitch At A Time so how about popping over to see all the fabulous creations by the design team.

Challenge #180

Theme ' Use A Digi'

The sponsor this week is StitchyBear Digi Outlet with a prize of the full set of digi images that the DT used in challenge #178 - WOW that's worth around $20. To win this prize you must used an item from the StitchyBear Outlet. You may still enter using any digi but the prize for winning will be $3 to spend in the outlet.

It was my teamie Ali's turn to chose a digi for Tammylee and me to work with and she chose Aubrietia Digital Stamp and Paper Pack Pack by Coosty Creations.  The pack comes with one digital stamp and four complementing digi papers.  I decided not to use the papers on the front of the card as I had another idea but did use one for the insert.  As with everything, it is not always the case of using everything at hand - sometimes I find, less is more <g>.

To begin with I created a cut out design which I cut on my Black Cat using purple card.  Originally I was using one of the digi papers behind the cut out but there was just to much going on, so as I mentioned earlier opted for not using it.  Instead I used mauve pearlized card which I had at hand.  Now with no texture and two plain colours, all be it one cut out the card looked flat.  What next - should I emboss?  And then a creative moment arose lol.  I remembered trying sometime in the past, to use bleach to rubber stamp with to remove the dye from the paper leaving the bleached outline.  I never managed to achieve this as I guess the only bleach I could find in Saudi was not the super thick strong kind.  Off I went to the kitchen to see what I had under the kitchen sink which I could put in a spray bottle.  I have Clorox so tried that - I was aiming for a speckled look on the card so spraying was the obvious choice.  Clorox did not work then I remembered there was a big bottle of some sort of bleach in the cupboard - try that.  I poured some into the spray bottle and began misting the card.  Odd smell - this was not bleach but natural vinegar (which I use with bi-carb for cleaning).  To my amazement it worked a treat although the card did not smell very nice for a while - it was almost good enough to wrap fish and chips in.  Oh how I am sure all my British pals will remember how good fish and chips were when they were wrapped in newspaper, so much better than these dreadful polystyrene boxes used now!!!!  Back to my card.  I was really pleased with the outcome so back to the craft room to carry on.  Still having the urge to continue spraying I raked out Blue Shimmer Misting Spray - now that could really work and give the contrast needed to bring this new piece of card to life.  So there you have it, new card made for my cut out design.  One thing hubby has mentioned here - acetic acid may eat the card away in time so to neutralize it spray afterwards with bi-carb or baking powder to stop the reaction. I then cut the digi three times and decoupaged it, finishing off with bisque Liquid Pearls for the flower centres.  I used Spellbinders scalloped circles, the smallest die, to cut the sentiment backing and used the bisque liquid pearls there too.  Both these sections we attached to the card with foam tape, the cut out layer was also attached with foam tape. Purple gems were added to selected areas of the cut out design and the finishing touches of a heart gem and bow were put in place.  Hope you like what I came up with, certainly had fun with this one <g>.

Nicole

My youngest daughter's birthday is coming up and I have been thinking about her card for the past couple of weeks but nothing comes to mind, do I do something to do with rugby or the army or go kiddy and do pics (she loved one of my past projects with pigs on it) - but everything I thought of just didn't seem right.  Then I saw Delicious Doodles have a challenge this week - Purple, Turquoise and Gold (oh how I love the colours of this challenge and it was in my comfort zone).  Next choose a digi and make the card for Nicole, very out of the box as had never entered my mind to do something like this for her so I hope she likes it.  I chose the digi Dark Valentine by Delicious Doodles and am just hoping Nicole approves, I seem to recall in the past she liked 'Twighlight' and read all the books <g>

Inside of card - inlay created to match the DP on the front of the card and a sentiment added. I used the wax paper sections from the gold mirror card die cuts and sprayed with Promarkers - I think they are just perfect, a bit of texture to the inside and better than throwing them away lol.
The tag is attached with gold thread and hidden behind the top layer (I wonder if Nicole will find it <g>). The flower stops it sliding down and becoming irretrievable and is handy for pulling it out.

Roses

A multi layered very pink card which I tried to create with a vintage feel, not having tried vintage before I think this fits the criteria <g>.  I created the background in Photoshop and used one of the brushed by Obsidian Dawn for the scrolled image and added a sentiment from Digi Darla.  The frame was created in Illustrator, what a fun morning I had created them.  I printed the frame on card for a bit more stability and cut it out.  Two digis were used  Roses On Bush from Digi Darla and Dragonfly by Sandi Samples.  The uncoloured rose was printed on the DP and a second copy so I could decoupage it a bit.  The dragonfly was also printed twice, once on card and the other on acetate. For the rose I coloured both the main image and the decoupaged right bottom section with Promarkers, for the dragonfly I again used Promarkers (not easy on the acetate as I had had to use more of a blobbing action to stop one colour removing the other lol).  The acetate wings were then attached to the body and attached to the card with foam tape.

Lace was attached to the back of the frame and this was then mounted on the card with foam tape, pearls and pink Liquid Pearls were then used to finish off.

Blue Bird

Now this really is a labour of love.  I am in a now win situation at the moment, hands are so sore with an arthritus flare up but head is mushed if I don't have time in my craft room.  OK - no need for the sympathy vote <g> just sounding off :)

I made this card today for the City Crafter Challenge who have a challenge on the go this week 'Birds and must use Blue' - just what the doctor ordered lol, I love birds and I love blue.

For this card I first used Spellbinder die Grand Scalloped Ovals - 6   to cut out the most beautiful blue and gold paper I got years ago from Craft Creations, it was an off-cut in their bargain bin :)  Next I covered the whole card with blue lace.  Next was to cut the digi out, I printed it three times so I could decoupage areas.  The digi used is from Coosty Creations called Widow Bird and is part of the digi and digi paper paper pack available from the StitchyBear Digital Outlet.  The first bird layer was cut out using Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels 20 and the second and third layers fussy cut and decoupaged. I attached the top edge of the fussy cut sections with Zig Zag glue and the lower edges with double sided foam tape with the intention the that no seams would be visible, it looks good in real life but not very noticeable in the photo, I guess I should have taken a side view :(  Now that fussy cutting was a pain in the B**t but worth it.  I used the same die set to cut the blue mount which was embossed with a Cuttlebug Embossing Folder.  The edges of both layers were edged with gold pen.  Finally I used the dies again to make the label which is tucked behind the image with a decorative pull to get hold of and pull it out.  I added a blue gem and a coin metal charm to the tassel pull.
